MOUNTAIN GROVE, Mo., July 24, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- First Bancshares, Inc. (OTCQX: FBSI) (“Company”), the holding company for Stockmens Bank (“Bank”), today announced its unaudited financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 2026.
For the second quarter of 2026, the Company reported after-tax net income of $2,136,000 or $0.89 per share-diluted compared to $1,824,000 or $0.75 per share-diluted for the same period in 2025, continuing to compound the strong financial results reported in 2025 and the first quarter of 2026. The Company’s operating subsidiary Stockmens Bank executed the acquisition of a branch in Westcliffe, CO growing the balance sheet approximately $51,000,000 with organic capital and no debt utilization. The Bank’s net interest margin remains strong at 4.76% mainly due to the low cost of funds associated to the acquired deposit portfolio. Efficiency ratio increased slightly to 56% due to acquisition expenses and after-tax return on average assets exceeded 1.37%, and after-tax return on average equity was over 12.38%. These ratios experienced slight reductions due to the addition of the acquired assets, however, the Company expects future results to continue to improve based on the strength of the branch into the current franchise.
Since June 30, 2025, total assets increased 19.20% to $648.5 million, loan balances increased 23.03% to $547.9 million, the deposit portfolio grew 20.62% to $564.9 million from both acquired deposits adding liquidity and strong internal growth quarter over quarter, and stockholders’ equity increased 11.08% to $69.2 million from the robust organic earnings reported above.
As previously reported, the Bank continues to execute on its strategic growth strategies and lend to the strength of operating results across all fundamental performance indicators. The addition of the de novo branch in Hugo, CO and the acquired branch in Westcliffe, CO the Company has added liquidity, strong earnings, and expanded the franchise value of the organization while continuing to self-capitalize for future strategic growth opportunities.
The Bank meets all regulatory requirements for “well-capitalized” status.
