What happens if you put a soul-searching divorcee into the unlikely position of making peace between some very hostile groups? Stranger still, these groups are not political warlords in the Global South. They are just unexpected neighbors near Klamath Falls, Oregon.
That is the premise of George Lindamood's recent book, “The Accidental Peacemaker.” The book has recently featured at a major publishing convention, and Lindamood still has more plans to promote it to readers interested in its message.
The plot follows 45-year-old Walter Baker, a recently divorced and somewhat down-on-his-luck airline pilot in search of new meaning in his life. And like many in such a predicament, he hoped to find it somewhere in the outdoor wilderness (complete with a cabin).
Yet instead of a spiritual retreat, Walter has a series of odd coincidences that have led him to become neighbors with Muslims living out of a former jihad training center, landlords currently under the U.S. Federal Witness Security Program, and even more hostile folks from the self-named 'Jefferson State Militia.'
“The Accidental Peacemaker” follows Walter as he finds himself, even as he now has to deal with an inevitable, highly dangerous conflict of viewpoints. Yet throughout the book, readers will also see how he is gradually helped by encounters with other local characters.
Lindamood hopes that further promotion of the book will soon build up quite a following, given the way it boldly tackles its themes. There is no doubt that a story of an unlikely hero making peace amidst very opposing culture war viewpoints can be very relevant today.
“The Accidental Peacemaker” by George Lindamood is available on the ReadersMagnet Bookstore, Amazon, and Barnes & Noble.
